How To Avoid High Cholesterol FoodsOur bodies accumulate cholesterol in two main ways. One way is through the liver, which is an organ that produces varying amounts of cholesterol in different people. The second way that cholesterol is found in our body is from our diet. In a healthy body, we do require cholesterol. Our liver is responsible for making all the cholesterol necessary to remain healthy. Extra cholesterol that is taken in from food is more than needed, and should be avoided as much as possible. In order to become healthier, we need to be concerned about our diet and eat foods that lower and improve our cholesterol level. Many foods do not cholesterol, however much of what we eat in society nowadays does. Oils, animal products including meats, cheese, eggs, and other fats are all high in cholesterol. There is no cholesterol in plant foods. When we categorize cholesterol containing foods, there are some that are very high in cholesterol and some that are low. For example, egg yolk contains a high amount of cholesterol compared to the white. However, lately, research has shown that eggs yolks may infact increase HDL cholesterol, which is good for your heart and not the LDL that is bad for you. If you are unsure about what to do to lower your cholesterol, the best way is to minimize the intake of meat, dairy, fats, and fried foods. Fruits, nuts, vegetables, grains, and other fiber can be excellent for reducing cholesterol and maintain a healthy heart as they are not cholesterol high foods. |
